Abstract

Pengambilan keputusan karier merupakan tugas perkembangan yang penting bagi mahasiswa yang berada pada tingkat akhir. Akan tetapi, tidak jarang mereka mengalami kesulitan dalam menjalankan tugas tersebut. Meski sudah memasuki tahap perkembangan menuju dewasa, keterlibatan orang tua diperkirakan masih berkontribusi terhadap pengambilan keputusan karier mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat hubungan antara parental career-related behavior dan career decision-making difficulties pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir. Jumlah partisipan dalam penelitian ini adalah 413. Penelitian ini menggunakan Instrumen Parental Career-Related Behavior (Dietrich & Kracke, 2009) dan Career Decision-Making Difficulties Questionnaire (Gati & Saka, 2001). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat kontribusi parental career-related behavior terhadap career decision-making difficulties pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir sebesar 8%. Artinya, kesulitan pengambilan keputusan karier pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir sebagian kecil ditentukan oleh perilaku orang tua dalam memberikan bimbingan dan pertimbangan karier kepada anaknya. Selanjutnya diantara tiga bentuk perilaku orang tua, ditemukan bahwa orang tua dengan interference dan lack of engagement parental career-related behavior memiliki kontribusi paling besar terhadap career decision-making difficulties pada mahasiswa tingkat akhir, yaitu 18%.Kata kunci : career, career decision-making difficulties, parental career-related behavior, mahasiswa tingkat akhir
